FB453.2 Contribute to the running of the printing/slotting process

You must show that you:

1 Assist in the safe start up and shut down of the process
2

Contribute to the running of the printing/slotting process so that:

  • It runs at the required speed
  • It runs safely and efficiently
3

Effectively communicate to other members of the team faults which could result in:

  • Unacceptable variation in printing or slotting position
  • Inadequate ink coverage
  • Shade variation
  • Marking or distortion to the product can be identified and actioned promptly
4 Assist in correcting faults

Promptly report faults that you cannot rectify

Follow the correct procedure for the removal of waste

7 Stack work safely using the approved method
8 Assist in the preparation of product for transit
9 Where required accurately record production and quality assurance details

You must understand:

Your company's quality standards 

K2 Your company's production efficiencies
K3 The principles of printing and slotting
K4 How to synchronise the relevant units
K5 The risks associated with running machinery and how to avoid them
K6 When stereos and slotting tools need replacing 
K7 The common printing and slotting faults, what causes them and how to correct them
K8 What other faults may occur during production
K9 How to recognise when you should correct faults and when you should ask for help
K10 To whom you must report faults
K11 The procedures for the removal of waste
K12 What production and quality assurance records you are required to keep
K13 The safe lifting and handling techniques
K14 The Company's identification and labelling systems

Performance evidence

You must show that you can contribute to the running of the printing and slotting process consistently over a period of time.

Your evidence must show that:

R1

You contribute to the checking of samples against your company quality standards and job details for:

  • The position of slots and print
  • The slotting and printing is clean
  • The print is the correct shade
R2

You identify and report the following types of faults:

  • Damage to output
  • Output out of specification
  • Re-occurring process faults
  • Process faults which need others expertise to rectify
R3

You stack produced work safely following the prescribed method

R4 Produced work is correctly identified and protected following the Company's quality standard
R5 You can complete your Company's procedures for maintaining production and quality assurance records
