FB452.3 Contribute to the making ready of the dry end process

You must show that you:

1 Check that you have all the details required for the job

Check and report you have the correct materials for the job

3

Promptly report to your manager if the materials provided are not correct or sufficient

4 Work safely following the safe working practices

Assist in the preparation of materials for production

Assist in making ready the slitter/scorer, knife and take-off units so that:

  • slits and scores are made cleanly and accurately
  • knife chops are clean and correct 
  • shingle is correct
  • stacks are formed correctly
7 Promptly report mechanical faults 

You must understand:

K2 The sequence of tasks for setting slitter/scorer, knife and take-off units
K3 The principles of fibreboard processes
K4 The risks associated with making ready machinery
K5 The types of scoring tools 
K6 What the common slitting/scoring and knife problems are, what causes them and how to avoid them
K7 The product identification systems
K8 The company quality standards
K9 The procedures for removing dry end waste

Performance evidence

You must show that you can contribute to the make ready of the dry end process consistently over a period of time.

Your evidence must show that:

You assist in obtaining the following materials:

  • Slitting and scoring tools - verification of store's requisitions
  • Pallets - continuity of supply
  • Labels - provide examples of hand-written/computer documents
R2

You confirm that the process is ready for production by:

  • Visual examination 
  • Checking the control settings
Report and confirm that visual examination and checking of the controls ensures that the production process is ready for production
R3

You check the pallets and labels for:

  • Correct type and quantity
R4

You report mechanical faults promptly:

  • Written or verbally
