Contribute to the assessment of individuals training needs
You
must show that you:

establish
positive working relationships with new operators |
| 2 |
accurately
identify new operators' previous work experience and skills |
| 3 |
accurately
identify the knowledge and skills needed by new operators to
meet the quality and performance standards of jobs in your
work area |
| 4 |
check
thoroughly what knowledge of health and safety procedures new
operators need in order to learn and practice skills in your
work area |
| 5 |
determine
the degree of supervision new operators will need whilst they
are learning the job |
| 6 |
report
your assessment of training needs clearly to the person responsible
for new operators' training |
You
must understand:

the
knowledge and skills needed to meet your company's quality
and performance standards in your area

| K2 |
the
different types of training needs which new operators are likely
to have, depending on their previous experience of the printing
industry |
| K3 |
the
health and safety risks which arise in your work area and your
company's health and safety procedures |
| K4 |
the
limits of your responsibility for training and supervising
new operators |
| K5 |
your
company's arrangements for training new operators |
| K6 |
techniques
and procedures for identifying new operators' previous experience
and skills |
| K7 |
what
a training need is, and how to identify training needs |
| K8 |
who
is responsible for new operator training in your company, and
what information they need from you |
Performance evidence
You must show that you can contribute to the assessment of individuals'
training needs consistently, over a period of time. Your performance
will be observed on at least four occasions.
Your evidence must show that:

you
can contribute to the assessment of individuals' training needs
- when
they first start work in your area
- during their period of work in your area
|
| R2 |
you can contribute to identifying the training
needs of at least one of the following types of trainee
- National
Trainees
- Modern Apprentices
- experienced workers new to your area
|
| R3 |
you
can identify individuals' previous knowledge and skills by at
least one of the following methods
- briefing from your manager or the company trainer
- interviewing the new operator
