001.2 Take action to deal
with accidents and emergencies
You must show that you:

keep yourself up-to-date with accident and emergency
procedures |

immediately
sound warning systems in the event of an emergency |

promptly
apply the correct procedures for making your work area safe, when
a warning is sounded to evacuate the building |
| 4 |
report emergencies and accidents accurately to the responsible
person |
You must understand:

what actions you must take to limit damage to people,
equipment, and property

what accident and emergency reporting procedures you must use |
| K3 |
what procedures you must follow for evacuating the building and
assembling outside |
| K4 |
in what circumstances you may deal directly with emergencies (for
example, when deciding whether to tackle a fire, or a flood) |
| K5 |
where the alarm systems are located and how to operate them |
| K6 |
where the emergency equipment is (e.g. for fire fighting) and how
to operate it |
| K7 |
where emergency exits are, and what escape routes to use |
Performance evidence
You
must show that you can take action to deal with accidents and emergencies
in your
work area consistently, over a period of time.
